A bloke deserving of his own thread but thought better to keep it here... JOE Calzaghe. Just how underrated was he.
Been up all night watching his fights. Fucking hell I really paid him no attention.

I like Kell Brook, he’s up there with Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora for my favourite modern British fighters. He’s got the heart of a lion.
For his own sake though I think he should pack it in. He has been in some serious fights over the years and has never stepped back. Time to give the body and head a break and do something else while he still can.

Brook left him to go and fight in the US. There is a few interviews of Hearn talking about this situation he was well pissed off with Kell. Spoke of how he was there for him after Kell being stabbed abroad that time.

Brook was a good technician, lovely movement but getting in the ring with Crawford was insane Any observer could see what was coming after the Spence fight Can’t knock his Bollox and as I said, neither his natural ability but for a bloke that lived his life, Crawford was one to slip, Terrence is not even a pay per view draw, crazy as that is

Pent very good question. I am not an expert but watch lots of documentaries on all sports and read a lot as I am genuinely interested. My take on boxing promoters is that most are like sharks. It is a cut throat world and they strike whilst the iron is hot. The fact they take the cut they do with no risk is obscene but that is how it works. The Hearns are business driven and you can’t argue they don’t deliver but I don’t trust or like them. Loads of profit but at what cost to others? They don’t care. Feel for boxers I really do. Fortunately I am fucking well hard and no cunt would take me for a mug. That last bit may or may not be true xxx

Neither Khan or Benn ever wanted the fight enough.
They both had too much to lose.
The non fight talk kept them both relevant . Nobody interested now.
No fan of Hearn but Brook did shaft him with some of the American fights.

It’s a fairly simple recipe…the lowest risk fight for the highest possible reward.
I actually think he’s done a lot for boxing and for Brook too but every dog has its day. Not sure Brook was too bothered about matchroom when he was pissing it up in Spain and getting stabbed up. The Golovkin fight was one of the best live sporting events I’ve attended of hundreds.
He gets a lot of stick but has grafted relentlessly to build matchroom boxing through the sky deal and then globally.

Smarmy cunt but he knows his stuff in boxing and at least tries to get the best fighters to fight each other. Of course he wants to line his pockets too but that goes with the territory.
I can tolerate him.

I remember listening to Hearn snr. In an interview a few years ago when he was ducking a Fury AJ fight, he was asked why the doesn't just agree to a fight with Fury as it's what the fans want, his response was "I don't care what the fans want as we're in the business of making money not doing what the public want"
Make of it what you will but promoters are only interested in one thing, what's in it for them, which may go some way to explaining why the fight game is not what it was

Penters On the subject of boxing promotion was it not Bob Arum that said ‘If you want loyalty buy a fucking dog’
Sums it up, great quote too, have used that in work plenty of times

If a card was put on that was genuinely 50/50 or wanted by the public then Hearn wouldn't be needed.
A promoters job is to push a SHIT card

Brook Khan is 50 50 (i think it was always in Brooks favour until he aged) and Benn Khan is a walkover for Benn. Interesting that in the business scheme of things that's the more appealing fight for hearn. Game changer.

Re: Eddie Hearn

Eddie Hearn signed Kell Brook and for years tried to make the Amir Khan fight. He then signed Amir Khan for a three fight deal and still couldn’t make the fight.
Now they’re both washed up and everyone has little interest in it now.
Why the fuck would he bother? He doesn’t owe either of them anything, he’s helped them many times over many fights, securing big money deals for them both.
